BYC Marks World Environment Day 2026 with Girls- and Youth-Led Climate Action Seminar

As part of the World Environment Day 2026 observance, the Bangladesh Youth Coalition (BYC), in collaboration with the Department of Environment (DoE) and Plan International Bangladesh, organized a seminar titled “Girls- and Youth-led Climate Action” to create a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and collective action towards a sustainable future.

The seminar brought together government representatives, development partners, academics, and youth changemakers to highlight the importance of empowering girls and young people as leaders of climate action and locally driven solutions. The programme was chaired by Kabita Bose, Country Director of Plan International Bangladesh, with Mohammad Navid Safiullah, Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, as Chief Guest.

Dr. Abdus Salam, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, and Dr. Md. Lutfor Rahman, Director General of the Department of Environment, joined as Special Guests, alongside Marjan Nur, Climate and Environment Adviser at the British High Commission, as Guest of Honour. The discussion highlighted the power of youth leadership, gender-responsive climate action, and the need for inclusive approaches to address the growing challenges of climate change.
